The Riverside Rallycross Grand Prix was a round of the NASA Rallycross Challenge, held intermittently from 2012A to 2016A. It took place at a dirt-covered version of the Riverside International Raceway, in Riverside, California.
Origins and history[edit | edit source]
The Riverside Rallycross Grand Prix was one of the original events on the NASA Rallycross schedule in 2012A. It, along with Long Island, were road courses, modded to styled like stage rallies. These races would later form the Endurance Cup.
2012A[edit | edit source]
The first Riverside Grand Prix took place Sunday, July 22, 2012. 18 cars took part in the event. It is most well known for Josh Mertz and Dylan Livengood crashing into each other in turn 1 of their heat race. This enabled Adam Simons and Nick Dawson to transfer through to the Feature.
Absence[edit | edit source]
It was removed in the NASCAR 2003 era after the 2016A NASA Rallycross Challenge Season season for unknown reasons, and will not return with NASA's switch to iRacing.
